Jira - how can you change the name of a filter?

I have a filter and would like to change the name or the description of it, not the filter itself. How can I do that?

You can change the name and description of an existing filter, and whether it is marked as a favorite or not.

To make changes to an existing filter, click on “Issues” in the menu, then on “Manage Filters”.

In the sidebar, click on “My” to see all of the filters that you have created.

Next to the filter, click on the gear icon and then on “Edit”.

You’ll see the Edit Current Filter dialog and you can make the changes you need to here. When you are finished, click on “Save”.

You can only update filters that you have created yourself. If you want to change a filter that someone else created, you will need to make a copy first, or ask your Jira administrator to make you the owner of the filter.
